3 reasons organic food lovers have to try bio-dynamic

If you are a conscious organic consumer then there is every chance you may have unknowingly already tried some bio-dynamic produce in your local health food shop, market or cafe. And as we as a society look to more environmentally friendly and healthy ways of consuming there is no doubt you will be seeing more and more Demeter certified bio-dynamic produce in the coming years. Below we outline 3 reasons organic food lovers HAVE to try bio-dynamic produce.

YOU LOVE ORGANIC AND CARE FOR SUSTAINABILITY AND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY PRACTICES

Sustainability refers to making the best possible choices for your health, the health of the community and the environment. So, if you are looking to become more conscious in the way in which you consume than look no further than bio-dynamic Produce. The bio-dynamic farming method is a holistic practice where all things are considered living interrelated systems – including plants, animals and even the solar system.

Bio-dynamic farming methods, similar to organic methods, grow their food without the use of any pesticides, herbicides or genetically modified organisms (GMO’s). But they go one step further

Demeter Biodynamic Certification

The main principle is that the farm exists as a single living organism without the need for any outside inputs at all. This holistic approach naturally replenishes the farms soil structure, and adds vitality to the pants and /or livestock on the farm.

While a traditional farmer may bring synthetic fertilizers to solve issues on their farm, and organic farmers may introduce organic fertilizers, the bio-dynamic farmer will simply ask why can’t the farm produce the vitality it needs on its own? And in turn find a solution from within the farm entity itself. Sustainability at its best. Don’t you think?

YOU CARE FOR YOUR HEALTH AND WELLBEING

When you consider the natural process and methods in which Bio-dynamic produce is farmed it’s no wonder it is so good for you. But what exactly makes it so healthy?

Well, not only does the bio-dynamic farming practice exclude the use of any chemical inputs, but the holistic farming method also has a very clear and deliberate approach to ensuring the soil structure in which the plants and produce are grown and of which the livestock consume are in its most natural and healthy state possible too.

Essentially, bio-dynamic Famers are growers of soil rather than growers of plants. This makes sense, right? If you are growing plants in a soil structure that is depleted and unhealthy than you can’t really expect the plants that are growing in the soil to be at optimum health. Likewise, the livestock that are grazing the healthy plants are in turn much healthier than livestock grazing depleted and less nutrient dense plants.
